Little Rock Zoo Introduces Zoo for All Program to Ensure More Can Visit
Little Rock, Ark. (March 7, 2024) –Inspiring others to value and conserve the natural world is the mission of Little Rock Zoo. But for some families, a trip to the Zoo may present financial barriers.
The Zoo Access for All initiative involves two discount admission programs aimed to help overcome barriers to visitation and ensure that all area children and families can connect with the Zoo’s remarkable animals.
The first program provides a Zoo guest $2 admission for the cardholder plus five additional people when they present their current SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) card. Current SNAP benefit cards from any state are accepted.
To take advantage of the program, the guest must have a valid SNAP card and a valid matching photo ID to purchase admission tickets. Admission tickets must be purchased in person at the Zoo. There’s a limit of six admission tickets purchased per visit. Admission is free for children aged two and under.
The second program is for Little Rock residents and will be held quarterly. Little Rock Community Days will allow Little Rock residents to receive a $2 admission rate per person with a valid driver’s license, state ID or utility bill. Upcoming Community Days have been set for March 30, June 1, September 28 and December 14.
“With the Zoo for All Initiative, we are bringing equity and opportunity to Arkansas’s only accredited Zoo. Engagement and enjoyment at one of Little Rock’s most important quality-of-life amenities will be available to our residents and families. Our Zoo is taking a huge step toward making sure that everyone can enjoy and learn at this iconic cultural institution," said Little Rock Mayor Frank Scott, Jr.
“We are proud of the steps we’re taking to ensure that our entire community can take advantage of our great Zoo,” said Little Rock Zoo Director Susan Altrui.
