World Elephant Day 2025

Dates: 8/9/2025 - 8/9/2025
Price: Included with Admission

Celebrate World Elephant Day at the Little Rock Zoo!

Elephants are not only the largest land mammals but also some of the most intelligent and socially complex animals on Earth. At the Little Rock Zoo, we have a long-standing history of caring for these majestic creatures, beginning in 1937 with the arrival of our first elephant, Ruth. Over the decades, we have remained committed to their well-being and conservation.

Join us on August 9th as we celebrate World Elephant Day and honor the Zoo’s century-long dedication to these incredible animals.

Did you know that elephants are known to communicate with each other through a range of sounds, from trumpeting to low-frequency rumbles that can travel over long distances? Or that Asian elephants are critically endangered, with fewer than 50,000 remaining in the wild? Discover these facts and more through engaging keeper talks and interactive activities.

In honor of Sophie, one of our beloved elephants, who we sadly lost in 2024. Sophie’s legacy continues to inspire us, and in her honor, we welcome donations to the Arkansas Zoological Foundation to support Asian elephant conservation.

As part of our Centennial Celebration year, come reflect on the Little Rock Zoo’s rich history and commitment to elephant conservation. All activities are included with regular admission—don’t miss this chance to celebrate elephants and their vital role in nature!
