Recycle Your Holiday Lights
We all love our African lions, Amboseli, Saphira, and Inara, and their beauty reminds us of the fierceness and majesty of this magnificent species. Now, you can help their wild relatives by donating your unwanted string lights and extension cords.
By recycling these items, you're not only reducing waste but also supporting lion conservation worldwide. We’re partnering with TRG in North Little Rock, who will recycle the copper, with proceeds going to the Lion Recovery Fund. The Lion Recovery Fund’s goal is to double the number of lions by 2050 through expanded conservation efforts and partnerships across the globe.
Donations will be accepted from November 1, 2024, through January 31, 2025. You can drop off string lights and old extension cords in any condition at the collection box by the Zoo's front gate—no ticket needed. Please note, we cannot accept ornaments, wire light displays, lawn deer, or plastic stakes. For questions about large donations, call 501-371-4589.
Your contribution will make a meaningful impact on African lion conservation!
Don’t have lights or cords to donate? No problem! We’re also accepting monetary donations.
Get your community involved! Download our Lights for Lions flyer to spread the word at your school, church, bank, or neighborhood.
