Waddle Over for World Penguin Day at the Little Rock Zoo!

Penguins are some of the most beloved birds on the planet, known for their adorable waddles and impressive swimming skills. At the Little Rock Zoo, we’re proud to be home to a colony of African penguins—a warm-weather species native to the rocky shores of southern Africa. These penguins are a critically endangered species, and we’re excited to share their story with you.

They face various threats, such as habitat loss, overfishing, climate change, and pollution.

African penguins play an important role in their ecosystem, both as a food source for sharks and seals and as predators to small fish, like anchovies and sardines. By hunting in the sea and returning to their colonies on land, penguins transfer important nutrients from marine to terrestrial ecosystems.

Join us on April 25th to celebrate World Penguin Day and learn about these incredible birds!

All activities are included with regular admission—don’t miss this chance to honor penguins and celebrate conservation efforts for this amazing species!
