Cheetah Outpost

The Laura P. Nichols Cheetah Outpost, opened in 2012 at the Little Rock Zoo, and provides a specialized habitat for cheetahs. Highlighting the vital conservation work of the Cheetah Conservation Fund (CCF)—a global nonprofit dedicated to saving wild cheetahs and protecting their natural habitats.
Specially designed to support cheetah care and breeding, the habitat can house up to five cheetahs and includes two spacious yards and elevated viewing decks that give guests an up-close look at the world’s fastest land animal.
As part of this exhibit, the African Outpost building was renovated to include new habitats for naked mole rats and African reptiles, along with interactive, air-conditioned educational displays focused on cheetah conservation and the work of the Cheetah Conservation Fund.
This habitat was made possible thanks to the generous support of the Laura P. Nichols Foundation, private donors through the Arkansas Zoological Foundation, and the 2009 refinancing of park bonds by the City of Little Rock.
