Join us for a heartwarming tribute to our cherished animal companions at the Little Rock Zoo’s Beloved Pet Ofrenda. This special event invites you to honor the memory of your beloved pets while celebrating Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) traditions.
The Beloved Pet Ofrenda, meaning "offering" in Spanish, is a colorful altar created to honor loved ones who have passed away. This display, integral to Día de los Muertos celebrations observed by Hispanic, Latino, and Latinx cultures, includes symbols, pictures, flowers, and meaningful items. Pets are cherished family members, and this ofrenda provides a meaningful way to celebrate their lives with more joy than sorrow.
Throughout the event, the Zoo’s Learning & Engagement team will be on hand every Saturday and Sunday to assist guests in co-creating the altar. During these times, you can draw a picture of your pet using our art supplies, and even decorate a special frame to place your pet’s photo on the ofrenda. While staff will be available to help on weekends, the altar will be accessible during all Zoo hours, allowing guests to contribute at their convenience.
