Zoo Venture Classes:
 

Animal Exploration!

Want to learn more about some of our most popular animals with a hands-on twist? Come help us build enrichment items for some of our animals and you may even get to see the animal play with your enrichment item in person! Enrichment items help our animals to think, play, and act just like any member of their species would. We could be building/making a variety of items for our animals, so please wear clothes that can get messy!

  • Great Apes and Primates
  • Elephants
  • Big Cats 
  • Birds of Prey and Penguins

Age range: 6-11
Class length: 1 hour long 
Cost: $20 for non-members, $15 for members 
Place: Education Building and zoo grounds

During classes students learn the ins and outs of what makes these animals so unique! Get the inside scoop on our animals, and peer into the eyes of some of our Zoo’s coolest animals.

 *These classes, weather and staff permitting, will have an animal encounter.


Zoo Snooze

Join us for a night down on the farm!

This year’s Zoo Snooze you’ll get to sleep under the stars at our Arkansas Heritage Farm! You’ll get to experience what homesteading and farm life is all about, from grooming our farm animals and making your own butter to learning about farm predators of the night and discovering the importance of bees.  You’ll get to learn a little bit about everything on our farm!

Members: $40/guest and Non-members: $45/guest

Ages: For families with children ages 6-11

Time: Promptly Friday night 6 p.m. - Saturday morning 9 a.m.

A light continental breakfast will be served in the morning as well as snacks and drinks while you are here.

Behind the Scenes Tours

The Little Rock Zoo is excited to announce that we now offer Behind the Scenes Tours! Visit the areas of two of our most popular animals, and get an experience like none other! Waddle with Penguins, or even bathe an elephant! Proceeds from the tours go directly to the Little Rock Zoo’s Conservation Fund which helps animals all around the world! These tours fill up fast and are capped at six people per tour, so call now to book your tour!

Starting in June 2017!

Penguin Behind the Scenes Tours - Offered every Sunday at 2:30 p.m.

Elephants Behind the Scenes Tours - Offered every Tuesday 1:30 p.m.

Age Range: 6 years old and older

Program length: 1 hour

Cost: $56 per person

Career Day!

Ever wonder what it’s like to be a zookeeper? Come check out one of our Career Days and talk to the people who live this life every day! Get your questions answered and get a jump ahead of others for your path into animal care! These classes are geared towards students who have a strong interest in pursuing an animal career. Offered in the spring and summer.
 

Zookeeper:

Age range: 12-18

Class length: 1 hour long

Cost: $35 for non-members, $30 for members

Place: ZooVenture Education Building


Family Birding!


Looking for something fun to do with your family on the weekends? Why not try one of the most popular hobbies in the world, birding! Learn all about this addicting hobby, and start your very own bird life list check off sheet! We’ll teach you what you need to know to get started on this adventure, and give you the tips and tricks of finding the coolest birds out there!

Age range: All ages!

 Class Length: 1.5 hours long

Cost: $35 per pair for non-members, $30 per pair for members. Each additional person is $10.

Place: ZooVenture Education Building and zoo grounds

If you have your own binoculars please bring them! We do have some binoculars for those that do not have any.
 


Lunch with a Zookeeper:

If you have a strong interest in working with animals but want to have a more informal chat with our keepers, this is your chance! You let us know which animal area you have an interest in working with and we will do the best we can to get a keeper to talk with you! Get the inside scoop on the steps our very own keepers have taken to get into this field of work! Only offered in the fall and winter months.

Age range: 15-college age

 Lunch length: 1 hour

Cost: $35 for non-members, $30 for members
