Lights for Lions

November 1, 2025 – January 31, 2026
Starting November 1, 2025, the Little Rock Zoo will once again begin collecting holiday lights and extension cords to raise awareness and funds to help save wild African lions.
The beauty and strength of the Zoo’s resident African lions — Amboseli, Saphira, and Inara — remind us of just how majestic these animals are. Now, you can support their wild counterparts by donating old string lights and extension cords to the Zoo’s “Lights for Lions” recycling initiative.
From November 1, 2025, through January 31, 2026, simply drop off any used string lights or extension cords (in any condition) in the collection box located near the Zoo’s front gate — no ticket required for drop-off.
The Zoo partners with TRG in North Little Rock, and all recycled copper proceeds benefit the Lion Recovery Fund, a global conservation initiative working to double the wild lion population by 2050 through expanded conservation and worldwide partnerships.
Please Do Not Bring:
- Ornaments
- Wire light displays
- Lawn décor (such as deer)
- Plastic stakes
For larger donations, please call 501-371-4589.
Even if you don’t have lights or cords to recycle, you can still help make a difference. Donations directly support meaningful conservation action to protect African lions.
